About

Imagine a Valencia Street with sidewalk seating for cafes, room for you and your friends to walk and socialize on the sidewalk, street benches, more trees and better street crossings….

A number of us (neighbors and community activists) have been working on improving Valencia Street by getting the sidewalks widened and other streetscaping and traffic calming efforts. This is an outgrowth of community meetings put on my the Department of Parking and Traffic in 2005 which got nowhere officially but tapped into a great community spirit and desire for a more pedestrian friendly Valencia.

After that, a number of Valencia / Mission residents (Tom Radulovich, Peter Khoury, Amy Tanner and Amandeep Jawa) founded the Better Valencia Project to really push for the kinds of changes we would like to see on Valencia Street. SInce then we have recruited a wide array of other individuals and businesses and have been dealing with the City very productively.

You have nothing to lose but your small paltry sidewalks. :-)
